Terms of Service

Effective Date:

Open conversation works best with clear responsibilities. These Terms explain your rights, our role, and the standards that protect the square.

1. About these Terms & the service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern use of the Agora Android application (net.agora.app), the website at https://agora.in.net, and related features provided by the team operating Agora (“Agora,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Agora is A New Town Square For Free Speech: a place to publish, discover, and discuss public content.

By creating an account or otherwise indicating that you accept these Terms, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not register or continue using features that require acceptance. Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under mandatory law. Our Privacy Policy separately explains how we process personal information; accepting these Terms is not blanket consent to every type of data processing.

Questions about these Terms can be sent to mail [at] agora.in.net or through our contact page.

2. Eligibility & younger users

You must be at least 13 years old to use Agora, and meet any higher minimum age required by the law where you live. You must not use the service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

If you are below the age at which you can enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, you may use Agora only where legally permitted and with the authorization of a parent or legal guardian who has reviewed these Terms and agrees to supervise your use. An age minimum alone does not establish contractual capacity or replace legally required parental authorization. If local requirements cannot be met, do not create an account.

If you act on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to agree for it. Otherwise, you are using Agora in your own capacity.

3. Accounts, sign-in & security

Account access may use email and password or Native Google Sign-In (One-Tap OAuth), supported by Supabase Authentication and Google Identity Services. Keep account details accurate enough for account administration and recovery. Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, or register an account you are not authorized to control.

You are responsible for keeping credentials and access to your registered email secure, and for activity you authorize through your account. Do not share passwords, sell account access, or attempt to access another account without permission. You are not automatically responsible for unauthorized activity merely because it occurred through your account; responsibility depends on the facts and applicable law.

Notify us promptly at mail [at] agora.in.net if you suspect compromise. We may take proportionate protective steps, including restricting access while ownership or a security issue is investigated. Recovery may require verification; never send us your password or authentication codes.

4. Public profiles, posts & your responsibilities

Agora supports public profiles, usernames (@handle), bios, profile photos, posts, comments, likes, media attachments, and community interactions. Public posts and profile information can be seen by other people, including through shared website links, and may be copied, indexed, or redistributed outside Agora.

You decide what to publish and remain responsible for content you submit and the rights needed to share it. Do not publish private information, confidential material, or another person’s personal data without a lawful basis and any necessary permission. Consider whether you have permission from people depicted in uploaded media.

We do not guarantee the identity, accuracy, legality, or trustworthiness of other users or their content. A post, profile, like, or comment is not an endorsement by Agora. Do not treat user content as professional medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice.

5. Your ownership & the limited content license

You retain ownership of your content. These Terms do not transfer your copyright to Agora.

When you submit content, you grant Agora a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, technically adapt, transmit, display, and distribute that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and deliver the service, including showing it in feeds, profiles, comments, and shared-post previews. Technical adaptations include resizing images, encoding media, and formatting content for different devices, not materially changing the meaning of your expression.

We may permit infrastructure providers acting for us to process content only as needed for those purposes. This is not a license to sell your content to data brokers, use it in unrelated advertising, or grant unrelated commercial rights to third parties.

The license ends when your content is deleted from the service, except to the limited extent reasonably necessary for applicable legal obligations, resolving an existing dispute, or technically completing deletion. Any retained copy must not be used for new public promotion. This does not undo lawful sharing that occurred before deletion or remove copies independently retained by others. Personal-data retention and deletion are governed by applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

6. Free expression & acceptable use

Agora welcomes disagreement, criticism, debate, satire, and diverse viewpoints. “Free speech” describes our commitment to open discussion; it is not a promise to host every submission, an exemption from applicable law, or permission to harm other people.

You must not use Agora to:

  • Publish unlawful content, credible threats, incitement to violence, or instructions intended to facilitate serious harm.
  • Harass, stalk, bully, exploit, or sexually abuse anyone; publish child sexual abuse material; or sexualize children in any way.
  • Promote violence or hatred against people based on protected characteristics, or engage in targeted dehumanization or intimidation.
  • Share non-consensual intimate images, dox someone, or unlawfully disclose personal, confidential, or security-sensitive information.
  • Infringe copyright, trademarks, privacy, publicity, or other rights, or upload content you have no right to distribute.
  • Commit fraud, phishing, scams, identity theft, malicious impersonation, or deliberately deceptive manipulation likely to cause harm.
  • Send spam, coordinate abusive inauthentic activity, manipulate engagement, or file knowingly false or abusive reports.
  • Upload malware, exploit vulnerabilities, interfere with service availability, circumvent access controls, or access non-public systems or data without authorization.
  • Use automation to overwhelm the service or collect personal information unlawfully. These Terms do not prohibit activity that applicable law expressly permits, including legally protected research.
  • Evade a restriction or suspension in order to continue prohibited conduct.

Context matters, including public-interest reporting, documentation, and counterspeech. A report of “misinformation” does not by itself establish a violation; we may consider evidence, context, deceptive conduct, and the risk of harm.

7. Reports, moderation & appeals

You can report posts using the app’s available reporting controls, including Spam, Harassment, Hate speech, Misinformation, and Other. Provide accurate information and useful context. The report process is not an emergency service; contact local emergency services if someone faces immediate danger.

As described in the Privacy Policy, reports include the post identifier, reporter identifier, selected reason or explanation, and timestamp. Moderation alerts sent to our team include the reporter’s registered email address for investigation or follow-up. Report records and corresponding moderation notification emails follow the policy’s 30-day automated deletion schedule. A report is not a guarantee of removal or a promise of confidentiality against a lawful disclosure requirement.

We may investigate and take proportionate action, such as limiting distribution, removing content, restricting features, or suspending an account, when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or the service, or comply with law. We do not promise to review every item before publication or to resolve every report within a particular time.

Where reasonably practicable and lawful, we will explain a significant account or content restriction and provide an opportunity to challenge it. Notice may be delayed or limited where needed to address urgent harm, protect an investigation or another person’s privacy, or comply with law.

To appeal, contact mail [at] agora.in.net from your registered address, identify the account or post and the action being challenged, and explain why you believe it was mistaken. Please submit relevant context promptly: report records are not retained indefinitely. We will review the information available. Rights to complain or appeal under applicable law remain unaffected.

8. Copyright & other rights complaints

If you believe content infringes your copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights, contact mail [at] agora.in.net or use the contact page. Identify the protected work or right, the specific post URL or other location, why you believe the use is unauthorized, and a way to contact you. Include any declarations or signature required by the law under which you submit the complaint.

Only submit a rights complaint if you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them. Consider applicable exceptions, such as fair use or fair dealing, before reporting. Knowingly false claims can harm others and may have legal consequences.

We may request further information, remove or restrict the material where justified, and allow the affected user to respond or appeal where lawful. We may take action against repeated or serious infringement. Do not send unnecessary sensitive information: relevant portions of a complaint may need to be disclosed to the affected user or competent authority for a lawful investigation or response. This contact process does not represent a claim of registration as a designated statutory copyright agent.

9. App license, updates & Agora’s rights

Subject to these Terms, Agora permits you to install and use the app and access the website for their intended purposes on devices you are authorized to use. This permission is limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable; it does not transfer ownership of Agora’s software, branding, or original site materials.

Do not copy or commercially redistribute Agora’s branding or proprietary materials in a way that implies endorsement, or modify or reverse-engineer the app except where applicable law or a relevant open-source license permits it. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their respective licenses; these Terms do not reduce the rights those licenses grant.

We may release updates, security fixes, and feature changes. Older versions may stop working as infrastructure or security requirements change. Install official releases through Agora’s download page and follow device security guidance. We do not guarantee compatibility with every device or Android version.

10. Third-party services & external links

Agora relies on providers including Supabase, Google Identity Services, Cloudflare, and Resend for authentication, storage, hosting, and communications. Their relevant terms and privacy policies may apply when you use their services. See the Privacy Policy for details.

External websites, download services, and content linked by users are not controlled by Agora. Review their terms and security practices. A link is not an endorsement. Our use of providers does not remove any responsibility we have under applicable law for our own service or our processing of personal information.

11. Privacy, notifications & contact

Our Privacy Policy explains account data, public content, reporting, providers, retention, and data requests. Avoid posting or sending passwords and unnecessary sensitive information.

We may send essential authentication, security, account, moderation, and service notices through the app or your registered email. Essential emails may come from Agora’s noreply [at] agora.in.net or mail [at] agora.in.net addresses. Keep your contact details current. These Terms do not authorize unsolicited marketing or replace any legally required consent.

12. Availability, changes & charges

Agora is currently offered without a service subscription fee. Your mobile carrier, internet provider, or other third party may charge for data or related services. These Terms do not authorize Agora to charge you automatically; any future paid offering would require clear pricing and separate affirmative agreement where required.

We may maintain, change, suspend, or discontinue features or the service for legitimate operational, safety, technical, or legal reasons. Where reasonably practicable, we will give advance notice of changes that materially reduce core functionality and an opportunity to retrieve available content, subject to urgent security needs and legal requirements. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or permanent storage. Keep your own copies of material important to you.

13. Leaving Agora, suspension & deletion

You can stop using Agora at any time and edit or delete posts and profile details through the app’s available controls. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete your account or server-side content.

To request full account and personal-data deletion, contact mail [at] agora.in.net from your registered email address. We may reasonably verify ownership before acting. The Privacy Policy describes the deletion process and retention commitments. Requests and any lawful retention exceptions are handled in accordance with applicable law.

We may restrict or terminate access for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms, credible safety or security risks, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the service. We will act reasonably and proportionately, with notice and review where practicable as described above. Termination does not waive your data-protection rights or resolve rights and obligations already accrued. Provisions that reasonably need to continue, such as ownership, dispute handling, and lawful liability limitations, continue to that extent.

14. Disclaimers & mandatory protections

We aim to provide a useful and secure service, but cannot promise that it will always be available, error-free, suitable for a particular purpose, or free of harmful user content. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without additional contractual warranties.

This does not exclude statutory warranties, required standards of reasonable care, consumer guarantees, data-protection duties, or other obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing here permits us to misrepresent the service or avoid responsibility that applicable law places on us.

15. Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Agora is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made, or business losses resulting from your personal, non-commercial use of the service. Whether a loss is recoverable depends on the circumstances and applicable law; labeling a loss “indirect” does not remove a mandatory legal remedy.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nor do these Terms restrict mandatory consumer or data-protection remedies. We do not impose a blanket monetary cap or require consumers to indemnify us for all claims arising from ordinary use.

16. Complaints, governing law & disputes

If a dispute arises, please contact mail [at] agora.in.net with the relevant facts and the outcome you seek so we can try to resolve it informally. This is an invitation, not a compulsory waiting period or a barrier to urgent relief, a regulatory complaint, or legal proceedings.

These Terms do not select an exclusive foreign governing law or court. Applicable law determines the law governing your use and the courts with jurisdiction, including any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings where you ordinarily reside. You may contact a competent consumer, privacy, or other regulatory authority as permitted by law.

These Terms do not require binding arbitration, waive a right to trial where available, or require you to waive participation in collective proceedings where the law permits them. Nothing extends or shortens a statutory time limit for bringing a claim.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for changes in the service, safety practices, legal requirements, or business operations. We will publish the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will provide appropriate notice through reasonably available channels and seek renewed agreement where applicable law requires it.

Changes do not apply retroactively to disputes that arose before the revision, unless applicable law requires otherwise. If you do not accept a material revision, you may stop using the affected service and request deletion of your account. Merely changing this page does not substitute for notice or affirmative acceptance where those are legally required.

18. General provisions

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it is ineffective only to the extent necessary; the remaining provisions continue where legally possible. A delay in exercising a right is not a permanent waiver of that right.

You may not transfer contractual obligations or account access without our consent, except where applicable law allows it. Any transfer of the service or these Terms by Agora must respect applicable law, existing user rights, and required notice; it must not be used to reduce mandatory protections.

These Terms describe the service agreement alongside any additional terms you expressly accept for a specific feature. If additional terms conflict, they apply only to the relevant feature and only where validly agreed. Nothing creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and Agora.

19. Contact Agora

For questions about these Terms, moderation appeals, intellectual-property complaints, or account support, email mail [at] agora.in.net or visit agora.in.net/contact. For account-specific requests, use your registered email address. Include relevant account or post details, but never passwords or authentication codes.

For information about personal data and deletion requests, read our Privacy Policy.
