Agora · Your data, explained

Privacy Policy

Effective Date:

A public square should be clear about what is public, what is private, and how your information is used.

1. Introduction & scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Agora — A New Town Square For Free Speech — collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes information when you use the Agora Android application (net.agora.app) and our web platform at https://agora.in.net. “Agora,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the team operating these services.

2. Information we collect

Account & authentication data

When you register or sign in using email and password or Native Google Sign-In (One-Tap OAuth), we collect your email address, display name, and profile avatar. Authentication is processed securely through Supabase Authentication and, for Google sign-in, Google OAuth / Google Identity Services. Your Google password is not provided to Agora.

Profile & user-generated content

We process your username (@handle), bio, profile photo, public posts, text content, media attachments (including images and videos stored in Supabase Storage), likes, comments, and community interactions.

Your public profile, posts, and interactions are intended to be visible to others. Public posts may also be viewed through shared links on the website. Please avoid posting sensitive information you do not want others to see, copy, or share.

Trust, safety & moderation reports

When you report a post — for example, for Spam, Harassment, Hate speech, Misinformation, or Other — we record the post_id, reporter_id, selected reason and any explanation you provide, and timestamp in our reports database table.

We also forward a moderation alert containing the reporter’s registered email address to our moderation inbox, mail [at] agora.in.net, so our team can investigate and contact the reporter if additional context is needed. Reports are submitted for moderation, not as public feed content.

Information you send to support

If you use the website’s contact form or email us, we receive the name, email address, topic, message, and other information you choose to provide so we can respond. Do not send passwords or authentication codes.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not collect precise or background GPS location data.
  • We do not access your device contacts, microphone, SMS, or call logs.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third-party data brokers or advertising networks.
  • We do not run third-party behavioral advertising trackers.

These commitments do not mean that delivering an online service involves no technical data. Infrastructure providers receive connection information, such as your IP address and request details, when serving pages, signing you in, or delivering media. This is distinct from collecting device GPS location.

4. How we use your information

  • To create and authenticate your account and maintain access to Agora.
  • To display your public profile, posts, media, and interactions in the Agora feed and shared-post views.
  • To enforce community guidelines, investigate reports, protect the community, and respond to support requests.
  • To send essential system and account notifications from noreply [at] agora.in.net and mail [at] agora.in.net, using Cloudflare Workers and Resend.

We use service providers to operate these features, not to sell your information for advertising. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or a valid legal process.

Website preferences & external resources

The website uses session storage for temporary release-information caching. It loads fonts from Google Fonts; requests to Google for those resources include connection information. External links and provider services are subject to their own privacy policies.

5. Data retention & automatic deletion

User posts and profile information are retained for as long as your account remains active or until you delete them. You can manage your posts and profile details in the app, or request full account deletion as described below.

Moderation reports: 30 days

All post reports in our database and their corresponding moderation notification emails in Agora Mail are automatically and permanently purged after 30 days through an automated daily cleanup job (pg_cron). Because cleanup runs daily, records are removed on the daily run after they reach the 30-day retention threshold.

This 30-day schedule applies to moderation reports and their notification emails; it is not a promise that every account record or support conversation is deleted after 30 days. If you need other personal information removed, contact us with a deletion request. Deleting content from Agora cannot remove copies independently saved or shared by other people.

6. Third-party infrastructure providers

We rely on the following providers to deliver Agora. They process the information needed for their respective roles under their applicable terms and privacy policies:

These providers may process information in countries other than where you live. The protections and rights available depend on applicable law and the provider’s processing arrangements.

7. Children’s privacy

Agora is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. Where local law requires a higher minimum age or additional authorization, those requirements apply.

8. Your rights & account/data deletion

You can edit or delete your posts and profile details directly within the Agora app at any time.

To request full account and personal data deletion, email mail [at] agora.in.net from your registered email address. Tell us that you want your Agora account and associated personal data deleted. We may ask for information needed to verify account ownership; we will never ask for your password.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct it, request erasure or restriction, object to processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also have the right to raise a concern with your local data protection authority.

We will review and respond to requests in accordance with applicable law. If a legal requirement prevents deletion of particular information, we will explain the limitation where permitted.

9. Contact us

For privacy inquiries, support, or data requests, email mail [at] agora.in.net or visit agora.in.net/contact. For account deletion, please contact us from your registered email address so we can verify your request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Agora evolves. We will publish the revised policy here with an updated effective date and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
